Patek menjunjung kaseh, Tuanku. (Thank you to the Royal Highness).
The Royal Highness, the Sultan of Johore disagrees for the construction of the third bridge linking Singapore and the eastern part of johore. The proposal was not pre consulted with the Royal Highness.
Yes….. I agree with The Royal Highness. The third bridge can only go ahead provided the Causeway is demolished and build a bridge spanning overhead over the Strait of johore, no matter a straight or crooked bridge. On this aspect, I respected Mahathir’s vision. Singapore is so afraid that Malaysia would steal away the shipping traffic from them. Malaysia had been so generous and the creation of Iskandar project is mainly for Singapore to transfer their factories and technology park to Johore. Let’s not talk about the 3 cents per 1000 gallons of raw water that Johore piped to Singapore.
I was the pioneer to operate Pasir Gudang Port in 1974 and lately I travelled to Batam Island by boat from Johore. I could see Singapore is one step ahead of Malaysia. Singapore had done land reclamation at Pulau Tekong and I am cocking sure that they are building Ports there. I wonder where our Malaysian intelligent services, the Navy and the Marines department are. To make matters worse, we have now lost Pulau Batu Putih to Singapore. We should call that island, Pulau Putih Mata. Something lost and gone. The Ministers are busy clad in their coats and ties sitting in an air condition offices and do not know what’s going on the ground. Take a ferry from Johore to Batam Island and you can see what Singapore is up to, right at our door step.
Patek menjunjung kaseh, Tuanku. Nukilan patek ini, mohon diampun.
