The Bachelor Boy Imam.

As the solat Isyakh on 08 December 2009 about to start, there was a commotion in the Mosque prayer hall. Imam 4 was waving to a twenty one (21) year old boy to come forward to be the Imam. This bachelor boy dressed in white jubah and white songkok arrogantly came forward to the Imam praying mat. The Jemaah was stunned why the Imam requested this boy to be the Imam. I decided to abscond from the Mosque and went home as I did not agree that this Chico to be my Imam. Who is he? A bachelor boy is the least choice to be an Imam in any solat fardhu berjemaah. In this case Imam 4 was around, a veteran Imam. Incidentally Imam 2 was not around and Imam 1 and 3 is in Mekah performing the Haj.

Later that night, I met Imam 4 at a function and I confronted him what was happening and I disagreed to just what he had done. To my surprise, Imam 4 was pestered by the Nazir to push this boy up to be the Imam. Prior to that, Imam 2 and Imam 4 had requested from the Nazir the boy credibility to be an Imam. The Nazir arrogantly confirmed that he has three capable chaps which has a “tauliah” and at anytime ever ready can replace Imam 2 and 4. When requested for official documentary approval from Jabatan Agama, the Nazir zips zap the issue and failed to produce one. To avoid friction and to satisfy the Nazir, Imam 4 summoned this young chap declared as per see by the Nazir to have a “tauliah” to be the solat Isyakh Imam. What the Nazir did not realized he had exploded the Jemaah displeasure. I think he just don’t care less.

This boy was not even born when Imam 4 was already the Kampong Mosque Imam and he did not have the slightest respect for Imam 4. At least he could politely declined the invitation as a show of respect to a seventy + (70+) year old man. This is happening in my Mosque when the Nazir are instilling bad example to the young towards the Mosque Imam. Coaching disrespectful to the young against the Mosque Imam is against Malay culture. The Mosque institution has been manipulated by political ideology differences. The lack of mutual cooperation between the Nazir and the Imam resulting to disharmony and disarray among the Jemaah.

Regarding the “tauliah” of the Nazir three (3) henchmen – I doubt the three (3) really has. As several Jemaah are unhappy about the incident, the matter was referred to Pejabat Agama Islam Daerah Klang for confirmation. This is no joke matter for the Jemaah does not want to be fool by the Nazir anymore. The Nazir could at least announce or notified the Jemaah regarding the award of the “tauliah” vide the public address system or the Notice Board.

I hope the three (3) guys got the “tauliah” from any of the Islamic Authority in Selangor and not from the Nazir himself. If it is from the Nazir, may Allah bless him? Regarding this matter, don’t play play. The Jemaah are getting sick by day.
