Where is Taman Desa Serdang? My cousin Jefrul fetched me and wife at my brother’s house in Subang Jaya and we tagged behind the car driven by Uchu Mawi direct to the bride’s house. The bridegroom entourage was waiting for us somewhere else and the senior citizens had their final say. The convoy joined us later.

Akad nikah and the reception went very well, right on schedule. They had the usual kompang and instead of modern music blaring, they had the “gamelan”. Both the bridegroom and the bride wore stunning white attire during the “akad nikah” and light grey during the bersanding. The luncheon was before the bersanding and it was made simple. It was a typical Malay wedding, gotong royong concept as I noticed the helpers were all wearing Surau Taman Desa T- shirts.

In between the “akad nikah” and the luncheon reception we were given a house to rest and to prepare the bridegroom. We took the opportunity to comingle with family members and share the latest news. One of the cousins, Haji Nageeb would be taking the evening flight to Medina for his second Haj. I told him the latest about the Holy Land as yours truly was there during Ramadan.
This is what family is all about and a gathering like this would foster cordial relationship and the extension of the bond. It could be one or two cousins away but the thought and the presence that counts. It is the family members that would see us through thick and thin in life.

I have another one to attend the next day and this time, my cousin Ulul Azmi bin Haji Ahmad is the Host and it is around Setiawangsa area.
