History created today in the kampong but disappointment to
some.
At about 1030 hrs JKR handed the New Mosque to JAIS and JAIS
handed over to the Kampong. The New Mosque is now under the management of the
2012 – 2015 Mosque Committee.
The ceremony was held in the New Mosque Multipurpose Hall
attended and witnessed by about 120 kampong residents. However, the Ketua
Kampong was nowhere to be seen. For the obvious reason, perhaps he dare not
face the kampong folks for not selecting the highest voted returned candidate
for the position of Nazir.
The ceremony kicked off with the doa recitation by ex Imam
1, Tuan Haji Jaafar Siraj. It was a compliment gestured by the appointed Imam
1, Tuan Haji Khairuddin. I saluted Tuan Haji Khairuddin for being true
Gentleman who gave way to his former Chief. I was glad that Imam Jaafar had the
opportunity to be the first Imam reciting the doa in the New Mosque complex. If
anyone is unhappy about it I (we) don’t care a damn.
Yours truly did not attend the ceremony fully and left the
Hall soon after JKR Rep delivered his speech. I had to attend to my Consultant
Physician appointment at Pantai Medical Centre which is far more important.
The ceremony ended with a briyani lunch.
(Understand, the Mosque would begin operation on 14 June
2012, Friday beginning with subuh prayer and followed with the first
congregation of Friday prayer in the afternoon).
The consolation is, those who hijacked the New Mosque
Development Pro tem Committee have no more business with the New Mosque.
