Disappointed.

European Cup Final: Manchester United played against Barcelona at Rome Olympic Stadium. MU was in white and Barcelona with their official colored jerseys. The world was watching this game and telecasted live to 162 countries.

My prediction was MU to win the trophy and fielded the same starting line up as the second semi final against Arsenal. This proved to be a wrong calculation. MU was to defend the Cup which they won last season. During the first nine minutes, MU was controlling the game and nearly scored from a 32 meter free kick by Ronaldo. The first chance by Barcelona to see MU goal was at the 10th minute and ended with a goal by Samuel Eto’o. From there on, it was Barcelona all the way and MU was out of rhythm. The first half ended with Barcelona with one goal up.

Starting of the second half, Carlos Tevez came in and I had high hope MU equalizing. It was not to be, as at the 70th minute, Messi created a mess for MU and scored from a beautiful header. Barcelona was two goals up and what they did was to control the midfield by short accurate inter passes from there on for the last 20 minutes of regular playtime. Barcelona goalkeeper could take a rest while the MU counterpart was busy preventing further embarrassment.

The game ended with Barcelona 2 and MU 0. I went to bed disappointed.
