MU to Rome.

I was glad I stayed early morning to watch this game live. It was the second leg of Euro Cup semifinal between Arsenal and MU at the Emirates Stadium, the clash of the two best four teams in the British Premiere League fighting for a place in the final. The atmosphere was sensational and scary as the stadium was filled up by the home team supporters and most of Arsenal fans were waving the Gunners flag.

The game strategy, MU was playing for a draw at least and Arsenal all out for a win. Arsenal would be an attacking approach and MU was defensive and breakaway attack.

MU started the kickoff with a goal up during the first leg semi final at Old Trafford. Arsenal had to score two goals to go to the final. By the eleventh minute, MU had scored two goals. Arsenal fans were silenced and the flags down. The first goal was by Park Ji Sung from an error by Arsenal left back. The second one was a spectacular free kick of Ronaldo special from thirty meters away. Arsenal began to crumble as they had to score four goals to win the game. It was a mountain to climb and a miracle to achieve. At the half time break, MU still led by 2 – 0.

During the second half, Ronaldo scored another goal from a spectacular break away passes between Rooney and him. Arsenal managed to get a goal from a penalty kick from a foul by Fletcher and he himself was red carded. MU was playing with one man short for the remaining twelve minutes. MU would appeal on the red card decision as the replay showed that Fletcher did get to the ball. Missing Fletcher at Rome would have a minor setback for MU. For the remaining game, MU defenders were well intact and the game ended with 3 – 1 score and a total aggregate of 4 – 1.

MU would go to Rome for the final on 27th.May 2009.
