Disappointing Weekend.

The last stretch to the tape. The main contenders are Manchester United and Chelsea with Arsenal as an Outsider.

On Saturday morning Manchester Untied still lead Chelsea by six (6) points and top of the leader board. Chelsea was to play with Tottenham Hotspur and I went for Spurs or at least a draw. Spur lead by Sandro’s right top corner goal but the stupid Spur’s Goalkeeper and the Linesman Mike cairns made the game even, just before half time. Gomes fumbled Frank Lampard long range shot, slipped the ball from his grasp and the ball was rolling towards goal but he was just in time to stop the ball wholly passing the goal line. The Linesman did not see for the second and signaled to the Referee that it was a goal. The ball must wholly cross the goal line to be considered as a goal scored. That’s the Rule of the game.

I still go for video technical assistance at goal line for high profile League like EPL.

During the second half, two (2) minutes from full time Chelsea closed up the game and won by 2 – 1 against Spurs. Now Chelsea was only three (3) points behind Manchester United but MU had a game in hand.

Sunday evening Arsenal played host to MU at the Emirates Stadium. I confidently expected that MU to win the game or at least a draw. First half was goalless. Vidic (MU Skipper) was lucky not to be red carded and awarded a penalty when he handled the ball at mid air in the penalty box. The Linesman was cockeyed again. During the mid of second half, Arsenal managed to squeeze a goal through Ramsey from a good intelligent passing from Van Persie. Sir Alex tried to salvage the game but it was too late. He sent in Michael Owen and there was a deliberate foul on Owen in the penalty box but the Referee played fair and penalty was not awarded. At the end Arsenal won by 1 – 0 and Chelsea remained three (3) points behind MU with the similar number of games played.

What Sir Alex should have done was to mobilize a strong starting lineup against Arsenal to finish the job fast very well knowing that Chelsea was just three (3) points behind. Instead Sir Alex sent in four (4) shorties as starting lineup, Fabio, JS Park, Richardson and Hernandes. It was no match and Arsenal was playing riot during the first half. Luckily MU back could hold on.

With that disappointing result, Chelsea is just three (3) points behind MU and MU will play host to Chelsea at Old Trafford next weekend. It would be the “match of the season” and MU must win the game in order to win the Barcalay Cup. Chelsea will try to win too to get even par with MU. If MU loses, MU can kiss the cup goodbye and Sir Alex can keep on chewing the gum until the next season.

Sometimes I wonder why Sir Alex does not understand that any team that plays against MU will give 110% effort to win. A draw is already an achievement and a win against MU is a pride. MU tactical display of passing the ball back and back to the Goalkeeper make me sick.
