See you at Wembley.

Manchester United crushed Schalke 04 from Germany with 4 – 1 margin on the early morning of 5 May 2011 (Malaysian time zone). The final aggregate was 6 – 1.

MU will travel to Wembly Stadium on 28 May 2011, not far off to meet Barcelona FC who won against Real Madrid with 3 – 1 aggregate, the previous morning. That would decide which Football Club is the best in Europe for 2010 – 2011 seasons.

I stayed awake to watch both the second leg semi finals. Barcelona versus Real Madrid game was disappointing. The rain rather spoilt the pace of the game and the standard of refereeing was unsatisfactory. A goal by Real Madrid was disallowed and a free kick was given the other way round. Any foul on Real Madrid Ronaldo was played on. Barcelona had several Oscar winners for play acting. A simple touch on the ankle, they will roll three times in pain clutching the ankle as if the ankle had dislocated from the leg. The next moment they were up and about.

Except for the number of goals scored, the MU versus Schalke 04 game was not that impressive meeting the high profile standard of top bests European Football Clubs. MU which had two (2) goals advantage sends in mostly second stringers for the starting lineup. I was worried but eventually proven wrong. The second stringers played even harder, going for every ball to prove to Sir Alex of their capabilities and where they deserve to be. During the first half itself the Referee flashed out three (3) yellow cards for first foul to MU players. I predicted someone would be red carded.

Names like Raul and Edu from Schalke 04 was lost during the game. MU had two (2) goals in the first half by Antonio Valencia (26 min) and Darren Gibson (31 min) respectively. Schalke replied a stunning right corner shot by Jurado (35 min) beyond the reach of Van De Sar. End of the first half the scoring aggregate was 4 – 1.

Second half started very promising for Schalke 04 but MU back line protected the fortress intact. On the 72 and 76 minute, Anderson of MU on the break had two (2) in the net. The remaining minutes was pin ball and MU could have added more if they were sharper. Several opportunities on the break as Schalke 04 players were camping upfront to reduce the deficit. There were a lot of weary legs but MU young second stringers were like cockroach on the loose.

On the final whistle, MU will walk to Wembley Stadium to meet Barcelona FC.

I take MU 2 – 1.
