No Rio, No Problem.

With Rio Ferdinand banned for four (4) matches I thought Manchester United is going to struggle again. His absence did not make any difference after all.

MU travelled to the Emirate Stadium to face Arsenal one of the league contender. MU was two up during the first half. Though the first one was an own goal by Arsenal Goalkeeper, credit should be given to Nani for squeezing through two Defenders and his chip to the goalmouth make things very difficult for the Goalkeeper. The second one was a gem. Rooney in his own half facing his own goal, managed to pass the ball to Nani who raced down the right flank. Rooney sprinted from his own half to Arsenal square and timely met Nani pass and the next second the ball already in Arsenal goal. That was football all about that spectators love to watch.

Early in the second half, Park made a solo run and the Koreans made the score 3 – 0. Wenger scratched his head and the Emirates spectators quieted. Nani was their booing target during the first half but after two goals scored where Nani had a part, the Gunners supporters some seen leaving the Emirates for some watering holes.

MU missed a few chances as Arsenal backline was open. All the Gunners were trying to get an equalizer and hoping for miracle for a draw. MU was defending the fort tightly and at one of the shot to goal, Brown deflected the ball beyond Van der Sar reach. The score was 3 – 1 and stood to the last whistle.

Sometimes I wonder why MU can win against Arsenal but losing to non league contender teams. Something fishy somewhere.

MU is one point downs from Chelsea the Leader and the finishing tape is important. If MU can keep their consistency, Barclay Cup is theirs for another season in MU trophy showcase.
