Germany, OUT.

For the first fourteen (14) minutes the Spanish were dominating and the Germans without Mueller who was suspended for two (2) yellow cards looked a confused flock of sheep. The Germans survived a header by Carles Puyol and a one to one situation with the German’s Goalkeeper. Towards the end of the first half, Ozeil looked being fouled by Ramos in the Spanish penalty box but the Hungarian Referee did not buy.

First half ended scoreless.

In the second half Xavi Alonso shot wide twice and the Germans were still defending instead of the usual speedy football adapted by them. The Germans looked lost at midfield. The German was only depending on attacking on the break but the Spanish was very quick to run back for cover. On the 73rd minute from a corner kick, Carles Puyol made amendment to his fist half miss and from outside the penalty box he came running in and with his forehead, the ball banged into the German goal. The Goalkeeper was grasping air and the Germans were shocked.

Too late for the German to equalize and they were lucky not to incur with more damage and shame as the back was left wide open.

The game ended with Spain 1 and Germany 0. Spain had beaten Germany of the same margin at the European Cup Final, two (2) years ago. I had high expectation for the German as they had trashed England and Argentina with four (4) goals.

For Spain, it would be the first time ever they entered the Final in World Cup history. Their opponent would be Holland who since entered the Final in 1978 but lost and Holland too never won the World Cup. Both teams will go all out and have stake to play during the Final. It would be an interesting game, not to miss.

Germany will play Uruguay for the third and fourth placing, just for pride sake. Perhaps they should play on all the Reserves to taste playing at the World Cup. The World Cup is already beyond their dream.
