Last quarter final.

It was the most dramatic game of the quarter finals.

Paraguay met Spain and Spain was favored to win by at least two (2) goals due to the big names in European football in the Spanish side. They were the European Champion.

Both teams were captained by their Goalkeepers.

Nelson Valdez of Paraguay found the net on the 41st minute but he was ruled out for offside.

The first half ended scoreless.

During the second half the game was more lively with Paraguay got a penalty but Cordoza shot was well saved by Cassillas. At the next minute at the other end, Spain got a penalty. Alonso took the penalty and the goal was disallowed by the Guatemala Referee. Alonso took the second and saved by the alert Goalkeeper, J Villar. On the rebound Alonso was tripped by J Villar but in the commotion it did not catch the eye of the Referee. Three (3) penalty kicks awarded within minutes apart. The score line remain 0 – 0.

At the last quarter of the game, finally Spain had a breakthrough and the shot hit the right upright, rebound to David Villa path and his shot to goalmouth hit the left upright, bounced to the right upright and trapped in the goal netting. It was like a pinball and Villa was very lucky to be at the right spot at the right moment. The most astonishing goal ever scored of the World Cup. Spain was one (1) up and the game ended the same.

Cardoza of Paraguay wept openly after the game due to the saved penalty.
The Matadors of Spain will now meet the German at the semifinal. Either third or fourth placing is guaranteed for Spain, perhaps even better.

Now I predict it would be all European final in the World Cup. The only surviving non European semifinalist is Uruguay and on paper it would be an uphill task to overcome the Dutch.

Two (2) more games to the Final and my life would return to normal.
